Now-Time Asian America is an umbrella title for an ongoing inquiry into the condition and future of “Asian America”—that delicious and fast growing, culturally generative, politically expectant, but ultimately unstable category to which some eighteen million Americans may claim membership. Initiated by myself and Megha Ralapati in 2020, we’ve used Now-Time as a vehicle to promote and publish texts, and for organizing discussion events.

Belonging, Bought and Sold: Asian America’s Complicated Relationship with Gentrification, an essay by artist and organizer Carol Zou, published in 2023 with support from 18th Street Arts Center and WE Rise LA. Download the PDF here.

Read Now-Time Asian America, our opening statement published online in advance of the 2020 general election in the United States. Co-authored by Megha Ralapati and Dan S. Wang.
