Performances of French Revolution speeches. Speeches include excerpts from Robespierre’s final speech of 8 Thermidor as well as Pierre Gaspard Chaumette’s 1794 speech celebrating the abolition of slavery throughout the French empire–at least in law if not in practice. The first staging was for the Drive-By Art exhibition organized for Los Angeles during the pandemic/uprising Spring of 2020. The socially distanced event was sited in a front yard in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. Many thanks to Fangfang.
